Erik Rogers, Dangerous New Machine

When a band pulls off a heavy cover of T-Pain’s Applebottom Jeans, you know its gonna be a good night.

So as it goes with Dangerous New Machine as they continue their rise in the alternative hard rock scene. Featuring a group of talented and motivated musicians bringing together influence from past success in Stereomud, Fozzy, Outshine, and Stuck Mojo, the appropriately named group pulls no punches in delivering their unique style with a highly energetic and engaging stageshow.

In shooting notes, the pit was not enforced so I packed it in with the crowd. This coupled with a deployed catwalk significantly limited movement and shooting angles particularly front of stage and crossing from stage left and right in the pit. Some of the better angles came from the dance floor in front of the catwalk which fell a few feet below the pit. Lighting consisted of minimal backlighting with frontlighting delivered from a single follow spot largely focused on lead vocalist Erik Rogers. Settings generally fell within a stop of 1/200, F3.2, 3200 ISO from a single Nikon D700 coupled with the Nikon 24-70 2.8 mid range zoom. I swapped to the Nikon 70-200 2.8 for one song, though this lens was largely unnessary.
